The Fillers: There are a variety of FDA approved fillers that are injected just below the skin’s surface to smooth away wrinkles and add youthful volume to your face. The results are almost immediate and can be truly amazing! Some fillers require skin testing others do not, each filler has a different composition and length of duration, Dr. Ballas will decide which filler or combination of fillers will be best suited for you based upon your personal profile.

ARTEFILL:
One of the newest treatments in the anti-aging arsenal, ArteFillR is the first and only FDA approved, non-resorbable, injectable wrinkle filler for the correction of facial wrinkles known as smile lines. This filler is has been clinically proven to last up to three years or more, making the physician you choose to administer the injection even more critical. Dr. Ballas is one of only a handful of physicians selected by the manufacturer of ArteFillR to introduce it to Palm Beach County.  ArteFillR requires a skin sensitivity test 30 days prior to treatment.

SCULPTRA:
SculptraR, an FDA approved, injectable, poly-L-lactic acid is intended to support skin tissue thickening in areas where volume has been lost, helping to restore fullness to the face for a more natural appearance. The effects of SculptraR are long-lasting and clinical studies have shown that, after a couple of treatments, it could last up from two to four years.  SculptraR does not require a skin test.

JUVEDERM:  
Smile lines, marionette lines, depressions around the mouth, chin, crow’s feet and those parentheses on your face known as nasolabial folds can be smoothed away with JuvedermR. It can also be used for lip enhancement. From the makers of Botox Cosmetic, this FDA- approved injectable contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps add volume and hydration. JuvedermR lasts approximately one year and does not require a skin test.

RESTYLANE AND PERLANE:

Smoothing out facial lines while restoring youthful contours can be accomplished by RestylaneR and PerlaneR.  Also used very often for lip enhancement, these injectables are essentially large gel particles that fill moderate to severe facial lines. The depth of wrinkles will depend on which product is chosen. Neither of these products requires skin testing prior to use and results last approximately three to six months.

COSMODERM/COSMOPLAST and ZYDERM/ZYPLAST:

Frown lines, worry lines, crow’s feet and thinning lips are results of the breakdown of collagen and elastin in your face. Restoring your more youthful contours is easily achieved with Collagen Replacement Therapy such as CosmodermR, CosmoPlastR, ZydermR and ZyplastR.  These treatments should last a few months.  Dr. Ballas will discuss the best options for your needs and desired results.  No skin test required.

BOTOX COSMETIC:

If frown lines have you worried, Botox Cosmetic can alleviate those wrinkles and bring back a more youthful look. And despite the jokes, Botox Cosmetic will NOT leave your face with an expressionless look. When administered by an expert with injections like Dr. Ballas, Botox provides a younger, happier appearance with perfectly normal expressions.

The procedure takes about 10 minutes and entails several tiny injections. Within four to five days you’ll see noticeable results that will typically last three to four months. Results, of course, can vary.

Dr. Ballas also uses Botox Cosmetic for the treatment of the under eye area, neck, hands.  It can also be used to control excessive sweating of hands and feet.

Botox background: Botox Cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause frown lines to occur.  It is FDA-approved and over 1,000,000 patients have been treated with Botox Cosmetic.

DERMA GENESIS: MICRO DERMA PEEL

If you are looking to reveal younger, firmer more radiant skin and you are not ready for chemical peels or lasers yet, Dr. Ballas will discuss with you Particle Skin resurfacing. This amazing non-invasive procedure utilizes a highly controlled spray of fine crystals to gently remove the outer layer of skin and is done by our expert Esthetician.

This painless procedure is a terrific treatment for a variety of skin woes including fine wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and sunspots, in addition is it very beneficial in the treatment of acne prone skin including blackheads and whiteheads.

VITALIZE PEELR – This peel brings the benefits of alpha-hydroxy and other peeling agents in a unique blend to provide a strong, but gentle treatment that is appropriate for all skin types.

GLYCOLIC PEEL- Light

Recommended for the removal of superficial wrinkles and discoloration.  This is a series of peels using a light glycolic acid. The peel takes only 20-30 minutes with little or no downtime.  It will improve the texture and tone of your skin and minimize fine line for a healthier, more youthful appearance.  Consult with our expert Esthetician for more information.

INTERMEDIATE PEELS (Series of 2 peels)

Sometimes your skin just looks dull and weathered as sunspots and fine lines become more noticeable and bothersome to you. When that happens, you should talk to Dr. Ballas about a freshening peel. This series of peels removes damaged layers of skin, exposing a new fresh layer with a smoother texture and more even color. This process also stimulates new cells to grow, thereby tightening the skin and decreasing wrinkles.

Dr. Ballas will talk to you about whether this combination peel is right for you and your skin type. The procedure only takes a short time and there are a few minutes of a tingling sensation. For the next 5-7 days the skin’s top layer of skin cells will dry up and peel off. There is no pain as this happens but for cosmetic reasons, during this time, many choose to take off from work.  It is also important to realize that this peel will leave your sun more sensitive to the sunlight for at least 6-8 weeks. So be sure to protect your radiant, younger looking skin with proper sun exposure care.

BAKER-GORDEN PEEL - Deep

This is a highly effective deep peel in which chemical agents are applied to skin that is severely wrinkled and scarred to eliminated damage caused by aging,  sun exposure, hereditary factors, superficial acne scarring and irregular pigmentation of  the skin.  For a few hours following the application, your skin will feel as if it were sunburned. There is no crusting and very little pigment disruption.   Recovery usually takes seven to ten days and dramatic results can be expected.  Dr. Ballas uses a modified version on the neck for creping.   He has been expertly administering this peel for over 20 years with excellent results. 

REFINE & REDUCE

TREATING ACNE SCARS WITH DERMABRASION:

If acne scars are causing you embarrassment, there are treatments that can help. One procedure that Dr. Ballas employs is the classic Dermabrasion. For over 40 years, this now highly perfected surgical procedure has been used to “sand down” skin that has been scarred from acne, chicken pox, trauma or other causes.

Laser treatments (intense pulse light) are not all the same so Dr. Ballas did extensive research before choosing the Palomar laser for his office. Dr. Ballas has chosen what many consider the world’s finest laser, the Palomar Laser. This FDA approved laser has many advantages over other types of lasers and offers the safest most effective treatment for the most requested laser therapies.

PALOMAR FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING FOR WRINKLES AND ACNE SCARS:
Fractional Skin resurfacing with the Palomar laser offers the deepest and safest treatment for Acne scars and moderate to severe wrinkles. Unlike other laser procedures, the Palomar laser system penetrates deeper into the skin’s surface for better collagen rebuilding without injuring the epidermis. Several treatments may be required at 3-6 week intervals to achieve desired results. Most patients notice positive changes in skin tone and texture within a few days.

PALOMAR PULSED LIGHT ACNE TREATMENT:

PALOMAR PULSED LIGHT PHOTOFACIALS
For treatment of Sun Damage, Sunspots, Spider Veins and Rosasea

Pulsed light is absorbed by the pigment in sunspots and the blood in visible vessels which is then converted to heat that dissolves the cells that create the pigment and shrinks the vessels. The face, neck, chest, arms, back and legs can all be treated. Sunspots, Rosacea and Spider Veins respond well to this treatment.  Several treatments will be necessary to achieve optimal results.
